- Develop and implement infection prevention protocols and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and healthcare workers.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance and analysis of infection data to identify potential outbreaks or trends and take appropriate actions to prevent their spread.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and staff to educate and promote best practices for infection prevention and control.
- Conduct thorough investigations of suspected or confirmed infections to determine the source and implement necessary interventions.
- Provide guidance and support to healthcare teams in implementing infection prevention measures, including hand hygiene, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, and environmental cleaning.
- Monitor compliance with infection prevention protocols and identify areas for improvement.
- Stay current with new research and developments in infection control and incorporate them into practice as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local and state health departments for reporting and tracking of communicable diseases.
- Prepare and present infection prevention reports and data to leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of infection prevention activities and outcomes.
- Participate in the development and review of policies and procedures related to infection prevention.
- Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for infection prevention to all departments within the healthcare facility.
- Collaborate with other healthcare facilities and organizations to share best practices and improve infection prevention strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to infection control.
- Train and educate new employees on infection prevention practices and protocols.
- Act as a liaison between healthcare facility and community organizations or agencies to coordinate infection control efforts.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of infection prevention programs and initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, and families regarding infection prevention protocols and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, Public Health, Or Related Field.
Certification In Infection Control (Cic) By The Certification Board Of Infection Control And Epidemiology (Cbic).
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Infection Prevention And Control In A Healthcare Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations Related To Infection Control And Prevention.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate Effectively With Interdisciplinary Teams And Provide Education To Staff And Patients On Infection Prevention Measures.
