Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Hospice & Palliative Medicine Physician to join our team at Henry Ford Health System.   1. Assess and manage the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients with life-limiting illnesses.
  2. Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients that align with their goals and values.
  3. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including nurses, social workers, and chaplains, to provide holistic care to patients and their families.
  4. Educate patients and their families on treatment options, disease progression, and end-of-life care.
  5. Monitor and manage symptoms and provide appropriate interventions to improve quality of life for patients.
  6. Document patient care and maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  7. Adhere to all regulatory and ethical standards in patient care.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure a collaborative and patient-centered approach to care.
  9. Participate in regular meetings and trainings to stay informed on advancements and best practices in hospice and palliative medicine.
  10. Serve as a mentor and leader to other healthcare professionals in the organization.
  11. Continuously evaluate and improve the quality of care provided to patients.
  12. Maintain a high level of empathy and compassion towards patients and their families.
  13. Comply with all organizational policies and procedures.
  14. Stay up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations related to hospice and palliative medicine.
  15. Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Board Certification In Hospice & Palliative Medicine: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Board Certification In Hospice & Palliative Medicine From An Accredited Organization Such As The American Board Of Hospice And Palliative Medicine.

  • Experience In Palliative Care: The Physician Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Providing Palliative Care Services To Patients With Advanced, Life-Limiting Illnesses. This Includes Experience In Managing Symptom Control, End-Of-Life Care, And Psychosocial Support.

  • Knowledge Of Hospice Regulations And Reimbursement: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Hospice Regulations And Reimbursement Policies, Including Medicare And Medicaid Guidelines. This Will Ensure Compliance And Appropriate Documentation For Billing Purposes.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Hospice & Palliative Medicine Physician, The Candidate Will Work Closely With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Teams. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Providing Compassionate Care And Building Relationships With Patients And Their Families.

  • Multidisciplinary Team Approach: The Candidate Should Be Experienced In Working Within A Multidisciplinary Team And Be Able To Collaborate Effectively With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Nurses, Social Workers, And Chaplains. This Team-Based Approach Is Crucial For Providing Holistic Care To Patients And Their Families.
