- Conduct cytology tests on patient samples to identify and diagnose diseases at the cellular level.
- Perform quality control procedures and ensure accuracy and precision in test results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Follow established protocols and procedures in handling, processing, and analyzing samples.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of test results and patient information.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret and report test findings.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay current with advancements and developments in the field of cytotechnology.
- Train and supervise laboratory assistants and other staff members as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers by answering questions and addressing concerns.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in implementing new procedures and protocols.
- Adhere to all HIPAA and laboratory regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Attend continuing education courses and conferences to further develop skills and knowledge.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Henry Ford Health System.
Bachelor's Degree In Cytotechnology Or Related Field From An Accredited Institution.
Certification As A Cytotechnologist By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Cytotechnologist In A Clinical Laboratory Setting.
Knowledge And Proficiency In Performing And Interpreting Various Types Of Cytology Tests, Including Papanicolaou (Pap) Smears, Fine Needle Aspiration (Fna) Biopsies, And Body Fluid Cytology.
Strong Attention To Detail And Ability To Maintain Accuracy And Quality Control In All Aspects Of Cytology Testing And Reporting.
