Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-operative evaluations and assessments of patients to determine the appropriate anesthetic plan for surgery.
- Administer anesthesia during surgical procedures, monitoring patient vital signs and adjusting the anesthetic as needed.
- Monitor and manage patient pain levels during and after surgery, adjusting pain management plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and developments in anesthesiology, implementing new techniques and procedures when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records for patients, including pre-operative and post-operative care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about the risks and benefits of anesthesia and address any questions or concerns.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to continuously improve and enhance patient care.
- Mentor and train resident physicians and medical students on anesthesiology techniques and best practices.
- Maintain a valid medical license and board certification, fulfilling all continuing education requirements.
- Comply with all hospital policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals, providing compassionate care and addressing any issues or concerns.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.
- Act as a representative of Henry Ford Health System, promoting our values and mission to improve the health and well-being of our community.
Medical Degree: A Minimum Of A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree Is Required To Become An Anesthesiologist.
Board Certification: All Applicants Must Be Board Certified Or Board Eligible For Certification By The American Board Of Anesthesiology (Aba).
Residency Training: Completion Of An Accredited Residency Program In Anesthesiology Is Required, Typically Lasting 3-4 Years.
State Licensure: All Applicants Must Hold A Valid License To Practice Medicine In The State Of Michigan.
Clinical Experience: Previous Experience In A Clinical Setting, Particularly In Anesthesiology, Is Preferred. This May Include Internships, Fellowships, Or Previous Employment As An Anesthesiologist.
