Job Description

  1. Develop and implement data and analytics strategies in line with the company's overall goals and objectives.
  2. Lead a team of data analysts and scientists in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from various sources.
  3. Utilize data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that will inform business decisions and drive growth.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, and editorial, to identify and prioritize data needs.
  5. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data and analytics, and make recommendations for incorporating new technologies and methodologies.
  6. Create and maintain data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
  7. Communicate data insights and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  8. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of data-driven initiatives and strategies.
  9. Manage data and analytics budgets, including identifying and negotiating with third-party vendors.
  10. Train and mentor team members to expand their knowledge and skills in data and analytics.
  11. Foster a culture of data-driven decision making and promote the use of data throughout the organization.
  12. Continuously evaluate and optimize data processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  13. Represent the company at industry events and conferences to showcase our data and analytics capabilities.
  14. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and maintain ethical standards in handling sensitive data.
  15. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure data practices are in line with company policies and regulations.

  • Extensive Experience In Data Analysis And Interpretation: The Ideal Candidate For The Director Of Data & Analytics Role At Hearst Corporation Should Possess A Strong Background In Data Analysis And Interpretation, With A Proven Track Record Of Using Data To Drive Business Decisions.

  • Strategic Thinking And Leadership Skills: This Role Requires A Strategic Thinker Who Can Lead A Team Of Data Analysts And Guide Them In Using Data To Inform And Support Business Strategies. The Candidate Should Have Experience In Developing And Implementing Data-Driven Initiatives And A Strong Understanding Of The Data Analytics Landscape.

  • Technical Proficiency In Data Analytics Tools: The Director Of Data & Analytics At Hearst Corporation Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Various Data Analytics Tools, Such As Sql, R, Python, And Tableau. They Should Also Be Familiar With Data Warehousing And Data Mining Techniques.

  • Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills: As A Key Member Of The Leadership Team, The Director Of Data & Analytics Will Need To Effectively Communicate Complex Data Insights To Non-Technical Stakeholders And Collaborate With Cross-Functional Teams To Drive Data Initiatives Forward.

  • Experience In Media Or Publishing Industry: While Not A Requirement, Having Experience In The Media Or Publishing Industry Would Be Beneficial For This Role. This Would Give The Candidate A Better Understanding Of The Unique Data Needs And Challenges In The Media Industry And Enable Them To Hit The Ground Running In Their Role At Hearst Corporation.
