Job Description

  1. Assess and monitor patients' preoperative and postoperative conditions, including vital signs, pain levels, and level of consciousness.
  2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and maintain accurate and detailed records of all patient care.
  3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  4. Educate patients and their families about preoperative and postoperative care, including potential risks and complications.
  5. Monitor and maintain patient safety and infection control measures in the PreOp and PACU environments.
  6. Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate and appropriate interventions.
  7. Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked PreOp and PACU area.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to all hospital policies and protocols.
  10. Stay updated on current nursing practices, techniques, and procedures related to PreOp and PACU care.
  11. Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and professionalism while providing patient-centered care.
  12. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of nursing practice.
  13. Attend and actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and other hospital events.
  14. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Rn License: The Candidate Must Possess A Current And Valid Registered Nurse License In The State Where The Hca Healthcare Facility Is Located.

  • Acls And Pals Certification: The Candidate Must Be Certified In Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) And Pediatric Advanced Life Support (Pals) To Provide Safe And Effective Care To Patients In The Preop And Pacu Units.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Preop And Pacu: Hca Healthcare Requires Candidates To Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Preop And Pacu Setting To Ensure They Are Familiar With The Unique Demands And Patient Population Of These Units.

  • Bls Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification Is Required For All Healthcare Professionals And Must Be Kept Current Throughout Employment With Hca Healthcare.

  • Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: Preop And Pacu Nurses Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Family Members, And Other Healthcare Team Members. They Must Also Possess Strong Critical Thinking Skills To Assess And Manage Patients In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment.
