As a NICU Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, providing specialized respiratory care to our tiniest patients.   1. Provide specialized respiratory therapy care to newborns in the NICU, including oxygen therapy, mechanical ventilation, and airway management.
  2. Monitor and assess the respiratory status of patients, adjust treatments as needed, and communicate any changes to the healthcare team.
  3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for each patient.
  4. Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and equipment to ensure a safe and comfortable transition from hospital to home.
  5. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and progress.
  6. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
  7. Stay current on advancements and best practices in respiratory therapy for neonatal patients.
  8. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the best possible care to patients and their families.
  9. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute ideas for improving patient outcomes.
  10. Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and sensitivity towards patients and their families during what can be a stressful and emotional time.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including those related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
  12. Attend and actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and educational opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  13. Maintain all required certifications and licenses.
  14. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and colleagues.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • Degree In Respiratory Therapy: A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Is Required For This Position. A Bachelor's Degree Is Preferred.

  • Licensure And Certification: Must Hold A Current State License And Be Certified By The National Board For Respiratory Care (Nbrc). Additional Certifications, Such As Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist (Nps) Or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp), Are Highly Desirable.

  • Nicu Experience: Previous Experience Working In A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Nicu) Is Required For This Role. Candidates With At Least 1-2 Years Of Nicu Experience Will Be Given Preference.

  • Knowledge Of Neonatal Respiratory Care: Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Neonatal Respiratory Care, Including Ventilator Management, Surfactant Administration, And High-Frequency Ventilation.

  • Teamwork And Communication Skills: The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role. Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Parents And Other Healthcare Providers.
