- Oversee the daily operations of the Health Information Management department, ensuring that all tasks and responsibilities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Lead and manage a team of HIM professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards, including HIPAA, HITECH, and state regulations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to maintain the accuracy and integrity of patient health records.
- Monitor and analyze department performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote effective communication and coordination of patient information.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and changes in healthcare laws and regulations, and incorporate them into department processes and procedures.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure the quality and completeness of patient health records.
- Provide training and education to staff on proper documentation and record keeping practices.
- Participate in strategic planning and decision making to support the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
- Serve as a liaison between the HIM department and other departments, as well as external vendors and auditors.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth among staff.
- Handle any escalated issues or concerns related to the HIM department.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Health Information Management.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In A Leadership Role Within A Him Department.
Certification As A Registered Health Information Administrator (Rhia) Or Registered Health Information Technician (Rhit).
Knowledge Of Current Him Industry Standards, Regulations, And Best Practices.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Other Departments And Teams.
