- Develop and implement safety and security policies and procedures in line with industry standards and regulations.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of safety and security operations for HCA Healthcare, including physical security, emergency preparedness, and workplace violence prevention.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with department leaders to ensure all employees receive proper safety and security training and are aware of emergency procedures.
- Monitor and analyze safety and security trends and provide recommendations for improvement to senior management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local law enforcement and emergency response agencies to ensure a coordinated response to any security incidents.
- Manage and train a team of security personnel to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees.
- Conduct investigations into security incidents, including theft, vandalism, and workplace violence, and provide timely and accurate reporting to appropriate parties.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to safety and security.
- Serve as a liaison between HCA Healthcare and external agencies in matters related to safety and security.
- Develop and manage safety and security budgets and monitor expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Stay current on industry developments and best practices in safety and security management and implement innovative strategies to enhance the overall safety and security of HCA Healthcare facilities.
- Foster a culture of safety and security awareness and promote a positive and respectful work environment for all employees.
Extensive Experience In Security Management: The Ideal Candidate For The Director Of Safety And Security Role At Hca Healthcare Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In Managing Security Operations In A Large Organization. This Includes Experience In Developing And Implementing Security Policies And Procedures, Managing Security Personnel, And Conducting Risk Assessments.
Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations: With Hca Healthcare Being A Leading Healthcare Provider, The Director Of Safety And Security Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Healthcare Regulations, Including Hipaa, Osha, And Other Relevant Laws. This Knowledge Is Crucial For Ensuring Compliance And Maintaining A Safe And Secure Environment For Patients, Staff, And Visitors.
Strong Leadership And Communication Skills: As A Director, This Role Requires A Candidate Who Can Lead And Manage A Team Effectively. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing A Team, Providing Direction And Guidance, And Effectively Communicating With All Levels Of Staff And Management.
Crisis Management Experience: In The Event Of A Security Or Safety Threat, The Director Of Safety And Security Will Be Responsible For Developing And Implementing Emergency Response Plans. Therefore, This Role Requires A Candidate With Experience In Crisis Management And The Ability To Remain Calm And Make Quick Decisions Under Pressure.
Education And Certifications: A Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field, Such As Criminal Justice, Security Management, Or Healthcare Administration, Is Typically Required For This Role. Additionally, Candidates With Relevant Certifications, Such As Certified Healthcare Security Officer (Chso) Or Certified Protection Professional (Cpp), Will Be Preferred.
