Job Description

Research in the department's 14 laboratories is primarily focused on diseases of developing countries. Performing molecular protocols preparatory to sequencing or genotyping samples, including DNA extraction, PCR or whole genome amplification, library construction, and DNA quantitation. Execution and optimization of genotyping assays for malaria parasites and Anopheles mosquitoes, including locus selection, primer design, and evaluation of assay performance from Illumina sequencing data. Supporting tissue culture of Plasmodium falciparum, including preparation of media and culture reagents, long-term storage and retrieval of cell lines, culture adaptation of patient derived samples and subcloning, drug testing and other phenotypic assays, and isolation of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and protein samples.

Job Qualifications
  • 2+ years of related experience required

  • Previous experience with vector-borne diseases a strong plus

  • Experience with or knowledge of molecular biology methods preferred
