  1. Develop and implement strategic plans for the Public Services in Special Collections & Archives department, in line with the overall goals and mission of the library.
  2. Oversee all aspects of public services in the department, including reference and research assistance, circulation, and outreach programs.
  3. Manage a team of librarians, archivists, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  4. Collaborate with other departments and institutions to promote and increase access to the library's special collections and archives.
  5. Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the use and handling of rare and unique materials, ensuring their preservation and security.
  6. Stay up-to-date with current trends and best practices in public services, special collections, and archives, and implement changes and improvements as needed.
  7. Provide expert reference and research assistance to patrons, including students, faculty, and researchers, both in person and remotely.
  8. Plan and execute events and programming related to the special collections and archives, such as exhibits, lectures, and workshops.
  9. Conduct outreach and marketing efforts to increase awareness and usage of the library's special collections and archives.
  10. Monitor and manage the budget for the department, ensuring responsible and efficient use of resources.
  11. Collaborate with donors, collectors, and other stakeholders to acquire and enhance the library's special collections and archives.
  12. Maintain accurate records and statistics related to the department's operations, usage, and impact.
  13. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards for the acquisition, preservation, and use of special collections and archives materials.
  14. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment for staff and promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  15. Other duties as assigned by the library administration.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Managerial Role Within A Public Services Department, Preferably In A Special Collections Or Archives Setting.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Library Operations, Including Collections Management, Preservation Techniques, And Reference Services.

  • Experience In Developing And Implementing Strategic Plans For Public Services And Special Collections, With A Proven Track Record Of Achieving Goals.

  • Strong Leadership And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage And Motivate A Team Of Library Professionals.

  • A Master's Degree In Library And Information Science Or A Related Field, With A Specialization In Archives Or Special Collections.
