Job Description

The Biosafety Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Harvard University Biosafety and Laboratory Safety Programs. Review grant applications, animal experimentation protocols, and IBC applications. Assist laboratory clients with identification of appropriate biological laboratory containment levels, and strategies for hazard assessment and control. Prepare, update, and draft policies, guidelines, and procedures for biological hazards and processes. Assist in the response and investigation of laboratory-related accidents or exposures. Participate in special projects and assist in the provision of EH&S services as requested. Participate in special projects, either as part of a team or as an individual contributor.

Job Qualifications
  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Working knowledge of academic research laboratory processes, equipment and facilities

  • Experience in a University research environment or EH&S program strongly preferred.
