  1. Ensure the overall health and well-being of laboratory animals through daily care, observation, and handling.
  2. Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal observations, procedures, and treatments.
  3. Monitor and document environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and lighting, to ensure optimal living conditions for animals.
  4. Perform routine animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, watering, and cleaning of cages and animal rooms.
  5. Administer treatments and medications as directed by the research team.
  6. Monitor animal behavior and report any abnormalities or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  7. Assist with the preparation and maintenance of animal housing and equipment.
  8. Collaborate with research team members to ensure proper handling and use of animals for experiments.
  9. Follow all standard operating procedures and safety protocols to ensure the humane treatment of animals and the safety of all individuals working in the facility.
  10. Train and mentor new animal technicians and volunteers.
  11. Participate in continuing education opportunities to stay current with best practices in laboratory animal care.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  13. Adhere to all regulations and guidelines set forth by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and other governing bodies.
  14. Contribute to the development and implementation of new animal care procedures and protocols.
  15. Communicate effectively with team members and researchers to ensure proper animal care and research support.
  16. Uphold and promote a culture of compassion, respect, and ethical treatment of animals.
  17. Continuously evaluate and improve animal care practices.
  18. Attend and participate in team meetings and training sessions.
  19. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Biology, Animal Science, Or Veterinary Technology.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Laboratory Animals In A Research Or Academic Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Federal Regulations And Guidelines For The Care And Use Of Laboratory Animals, Including Iacuc Protocols.

  • Experience With Common Laboratory Animal Procedures And Techniques, Such As Handling, Husbandry, And Administering Treatments.

  • Strong Communication Skills And Ability To Work Well In A Team Environment, As Well As Independently.
