Job Description

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the produce department, including inventory management, ordering, receiving, and stocking of fresh produce.
  2. Ensure the high quality and freshness of all produce by monitoring and maintaining freshness standards, proper rotation, and temperature control.
  3. Create and maintain a positive and efficient work environment by training, supervising, and motivating a team of produce associates.
  4. Develop and implement systems and processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity in the produce department.
  5. Collaborate with other department managers to ensure seamless operations and excellent customer service throughout the store.
  6. Monitor and analyze sales and inventory data to make informed decisions regarding pricing, promotions, and product selection.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized produce department, following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
  8. Build and maintain relationships with local farmers and suppliers to ensure a consistent supply of high-quality produce.
  9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new products, and best practices in produce management.
  10. Handle customer inquiries and complaints, resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  11. Adhere to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to budgeting, scheduling, and performance management.
  12. Communicate effectively with upper management, providing updates on department performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  13. Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a passion for fresh produce.
  14. Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the produce department.
  15. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including food handling and storage guidelines.
