Job Description

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Staff Psychologist to join our Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team. As a Staff Psychologist at GWU, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the mental health and well-being of our diverse student population. We are looking for someone who is empathetic, culturally competent, and dedicated to providing high-quality mental health services to our community.   1. Provide individual and group counseling services to students, utilizing evidence-based practices and a culturally competent approach.
  2. Conduct initial assessments and develop treatment plans based on students' presenting concerns and needs.
  3. Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on mental health concerns and interventions for students.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the CAPS team to develop and implement outreach programs and workshops aimed at promoting mental health and well-being on campus.
  5. Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and treatment plans.
  6. Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in the field of college mental health, and integrate this knowledge into clinical work.
  7. Participate in regular supervision and consultation with colleagues to ensure the provision of high-quality services.
  8. Contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment by fostering a sense of belonging and respect for diverse backgrounds and identities.
  9. Engage in regular self-care practices to maintain personal well-being and prevent burnout.
  10. Adhere to ethical and professional standards set by the American Psychological Association and other relevant governing bodies.
  11. Actively participate in the recruitment and training of interns and trainees.
  12. Serve as a representative of the CAPS team to various university committees and initiatives related to mental health and well-being.

Job Qualifications
  • Doctoral Degree In Psychology From An Accredited University Or College.

  • Licensed As A Psychologist In The State Of Washington D.c.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Psychologist In A University Setting, Preferably At A Large Institution Like Gwu.

  • Strong Knowledge And Experience In Conducting Individual And Group Therapy, Crisis Intervention, And Psychological Assessment.

  • Excellent Interpersonal, Communication, And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Student Population And Other Professionals In A Fast-Paced Environment.
