- Provide academic guidance and support to students in order to help them achieve their academic goals.
- Work closely with students to develop personalized academic plans and strategies.
- Stay updated on university policies and procedures and communicate them effectively to students.
- Serve as a resource for students, addressing any questions or concerns they may have about their academic journey.
- Monitor students' progress and identify any potential academic issues, providing appropriate interventions and referrals.
- Collaborate with other academic advisors and university staff to ensure a comprehensive support system for students.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of student interactions and academic plans.
- Conduct regular check-ins with students to assess their academic progress and provide ongoing support.
- Assist students in navigating through academic challenges and provide referrals to academic resources when necessary.
- Stay updated on current trends and best practices in academic advising and higher education.
- Attend training and professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills.
- Assist with orientation and other events to welcome new students and provide academic advising services.
- Serve as a mentor and role model for junior academic advisors.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement academic support programs for students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for students and promote diversity and cultural competence.
Master's Degree In Counseling, Education, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Academic Advising, Preferably At A University Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Gwu's Academic Programs, Policies, And Procedures.
Excellent Communication, Interpersonal, And Problem-Solving Skills.
Ability To Work Independently, Manage Multiple Tasks, And Collaborate With Faculty And Staff.
