- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for cultivating and stewarding relationships with foundation partners in support of GWU's fundraising goals.
- Identify and research potential foundation partners that align with the university's mission and priorities.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing foundation partners, including regular communication and stewardship activities.
- Collaborate with university leadership and faculty to identify and prioritize funding opportunities from foundations.
- Write and submit compelling grant proposals and applications to secure significant grants and gifts from foundations.
- Monitor and track grant proposals and awards, ensuring compliance with foundation guidelines and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with university departments and staff to gather necessary information and data for grant proposals and reports.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the university's academic programs, initiatives, and priorities to effectively communicate with foundation partners.
- Represent GWU at relevant foundation events and conferences to build relationships and promote the university's mission and fundraising priorities.
- Stay informed of current trends and best practices in foundation relations and incorporate them into the university's fundraising strategy.
- Manage a team of foundation relations staff and provide guidance, training, and support to ensure their success in securing grants and gifts.
- Collaborate with other university departments, such as development, communications, and finance, to ensure a coordinated and strategic approach to foundation relations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all foundation interactions and activities in the university's donor database.
- Support the overall goals and mission of GWU by actively participating in university events and initiatives.
- Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of foundation relations efforts and make recommendations for improvement to senior leadership.
Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Non-Profit Management, Communications, Or Business Administration.
At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Foundation Relations, Grant Writing, Or Fundraising In A University Or Non-Profit Setting.
Strong Communication And Relationship-Building Skills, With Proven Success In Securing Major Gifts And Grants From Foundations.
Knowledge Of The Philanthropic Landscape And Current Trends In Foundation Giving, Including Familiarity With Grant Databases And Prospect Research.
Experience Managing A Team And Working Collaboratively With Other Departments And Stakeholders To Develop And Implement Fundraising Strategies.
