We are currently seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Assistant Director of Undergraduate Advising to join our team and help guide our students towards academic success. As the Assistant Director, you will play a crucial role in providing support, guidance, and resources to our undergraduate students throughout their academic journey at GWU. If you are passionate about higher education and have a strong background in advising and mentoring, we would love to have you on our team.   1. Provide academic advising and support to undergraduate students at GWU.
  2. Develop and implement strategies to help students achieve their academic goals and navigate through their academic journey.
  3. Assist in the creation and maintenance of academic plans for students.
  4. Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure students receive accurate and timely information about academic requirements, policies, and procedures.
  5. Conduct individual advising sessions with students to discuss their academic progress and offer guidance on course selection and major/career exploration.
  6. Stay up-to-date on university policies, academic programs, and resources to effectively advise students.
  7. Assist in the planning and execution of orientation, registration, and other academic events for incoming students.
  8. Utilize student data and feedback to identify areas of improvement and make recommendations for enhancing the advising program.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with academic departments and other campus resources to provide students with a holistic support system.
  10. Serve as a liaison between students and faculty, advocating for students' academic needs and concerns.
  11. Collaborate with the Director of Undergraduate Advising to develop and implement training programs for advisors and peer mentors.
  12. Participate in university committees and initiatives related to undergraduate advising and student success.
  13. Stay informed about current trends and best practices in academic advising and make recommendations for improvement.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards when handling sensitive student information.
  15. Support and promote the mission, values, and goals of GWU and the Office of Undergraduate Advising.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Higher Education, Counseling, Or Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Academic Advising Or Student Services At A University Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Undergraduate Academic Programs And University Policies And Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Populations Of Students, Faculty, And Staff.

  • Demonstrated Leadership And Supervisory Skills, With The Ability To Manage A Team Of Undergraduate Advisors And Support Staff.
