- Plan and facilitate recreational activities for residents of all ages and abilities.
- Collaborate with other team members to develop a diverse and engaging activity calendar.
- Ensure that all activities are safe, age-appropriate, and in line with residents' interests and abilities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress.
- Engage and interact with residents in a positive and respectful manner.
- Foster a sense of community and promote socialization among residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members regarding activity schedules and updates.
- Assist in setting up and cleaning up activity spaces and materials.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Attend and actively participate in team meetings and trainings.
- Continuously seek ways to improve and enhance the recreational program.
- Build positive relationships with residents and their families to understand their needs and preferences.
- Act as a role model for residents, promoting positive behaviors and attitudes.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold resident rights at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Director.
Knowledge Of Recreational Activities: A Recreation Assistant At Genesis Healthcare Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Various Recreational Activities And Programs, Such As Arts And Crafts, Games, And Exercise Classes.
Experience Working With Seniors: Candidates Should Have Previous Experience Working With Seniors, As Well As A Compassionate And Patient Attitude Towards Older Adults.
Excellent Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Essential In This Role, As Recreation Assistants Will Be Interacting With Residents, Families, And Staff Members On A Daily Basis.
Organizational Abilities: This Position Requires A High Level Of Organization To Plan And Execute Recreational Programs, As Well As Maintain Accurate Records And Schedules.
Physical Fitness: Recreation Assistants Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Participate In Recreational Activities Alongside Residents. They Should Also Be Able To Assist With Any Physical Limitations Or Mobility Issues That Residents May Have.
