
Personal Care Assistant, PCA

- Provide compassionate care to patients by assisting them with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Assist patients with mobility, including transferring them to and from beds, wheelchairs, or other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Assist with feeding and ensure patients are receiving proper nutrition and hydration.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients by performing housekeeping duties and following infection control protocols.
- Provide emotional support to patients by actively listening and engaging in conversation.
- Observe and report any changes in patients' physical or mental condition to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans for patients.
- Attend training and educational programs to stay updated on best practices and techniques for patient care.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Treat all patients with respect, dignity, and sensitivity to their individual needs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input for improving patient care and services.
- Assist with patient transportation to appointments or activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Pca Should Have Completed At Least A High School Education, Demonstrating Basic Literacy And Numeracy Skills.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: Many States Require Pcas To Hold A Cna Certification, Which Includes Training In Basic Nursing Skills, Infection Control, And Patient Care.
Experience In Healthcare Or Caregiving: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting Or As A Caregiver Can Be Beneficial In Understanding The Responsibilities And Demands Of A Pca Position.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Pcas Must Effectively Communicate With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals, And Should Possess Empathy, Patience, And Compassion.
Physical Ability And Stamina: The Role Of A Pca Can Involve Physically Demanding Tasks Such As Lifting And Transferring Patients, So Candidates Should Be In Good Physical Health And Have The Stamina To Work On Their Feet For Extended Periods.
