- Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures in accordance with CDC guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and investigate potential outbreaks of infections within the facility.
- Educate staff on infection control measures and train them on proper protocols.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement infection control strategies.
- Stay up-to-date on current infection control practices and make recommendations for improvement.
- Participate in facility-wide infection control committees and provide updates on infection control practices.
- Conduct infection control training for new employees and provide ongoing education for current staff.
- Respond to and manage any identified infection control concerns or incidents.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of infection control measures, incidents, and investigations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, residents, and staff regarding infection control protocols and procedures.
- Stay informed of any changes in infection control regulations and make necessary updates to policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with outside agencies, as needed, to address infection control concerns.
- Utilize data and evidence-based practices to continually improve infection prevention efforts.
- Serve as a resource to the facility for infection control questions and concerns.
Active Rn License: A Current And Valid License As A Registered Nurse Is A Basic Requirement For The Infection Preventionist Role At Genesis Healthcare. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Thorough Understanding Of Nursing Principles And Can Provide Skilled Care To Patients.
Infection Control Certification: A Specialized Certification In Infection Prevention And Control Is Highly Preferred For This Role. It Demonstrates An In-Depth Knowledge And Understanding Of Infection Control Practices And Procedures.
Clinical Experience: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience Working As A Registered Nurse In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Infection Control. This Experience Provides A Solid Foundation For Understanding Infection Control Practices And Protocols.
Knowledge Of Regulatory Standards: The Infection Preventionist Should Have A Strong Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Infection Control In Healthcare Facilities. This Includes Guidelines From The Centers For Disease Control And Prevention (Cdc) And The Occupational Safety And Health Administration (Osha).
Strong Communication Skills: The Ability To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With Healthcare Team Members, Patients, And Families Is Essential For The Infection Preventionist Role.
