- Ensure that residents receive nutritious and balanced meals by following dietary guidelines and meal plans.
- Assist in meal preparation, including cutting, cooking, and plating food.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
- Communicate effectively with residents and their families to understand their dietary needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with the dietary team to create and implement new menu options.
- Monitor and record food and supply inventory, and inform the supervisor of any shortages or needs.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards to prevent foodborne illnesses.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents and their families, ensuring a positive dining experience.
- Assist with special dietary needs, such as pureeing or modifying textures.
- Attend training and educational sessions to continually improve knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards residents, treating them with dignity and respect.
- Assist with serving meals and drinks to residents, ensuring proper portion control and dietary restrictions are followed.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and follow HIPAA regulations.
- Report any concerns or issues to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Foster a team-oriented and supportive work environment, collaborating with colleagues to provide the best care for residents.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Dietary Aide Should Have At Least A High School Education Or Equivalent, As This Job May Involve Reading And Following Recipes, Measuring Ingredients, And Basic Math Skills.
Food Service Experience: Previous Experience In A Food Service Setting, Such As A Restaurant Or Cafeteria, Is Preferred For A Dietary Aide. This Demonstrates The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment And Handle Multiple Tasks.
Knowledge Of Food Safety And Sanitation: A Dietary Aide Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Food Safety And Sanitation Guidelines To Ensure The Safety Of Residents And Staff. This Includes Proper Food Handling, Storage, And Cleaning Procedures.
Physical Stamina: This Job Can Be Physically Demanding, As It May Involve Standing For Long Periods, Lifting Heavy Objects, And Pushing Carts Or Trays. A Dietary Aide Should Be Able To Meet The Physical Demands Of The Job.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: As A Dietary Aide, You Will Work Closely With Other Members Of The Kitchen And Dining Staff. Good Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential To Ensure Smooth Operations And Provide Quality Service To Residents.
