  1. Develop and implement control systems for General Motors vehicles, utilizing a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering principles and techniques.
  2. Design and program control systems that meet performance and safety requirements for the automotive industry.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and understand customer needs and requirements, and develop control solutions that meet these needs.
  4. Conduct research and stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in control system technology and automotive engineering, and apply this knowledge to improve General Motors' products.
  5. Create and maintain detailed documentation of control system designs and specifications.
  6. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the development and testing of control systems.
  7. Conduct thorough testing and validation of control systems to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
  8. Continuously improve and optimize control system designs to enhance vehicle performance and functionality.
  9. Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to ensure timely and efficient implementation of control systems.
  10. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while designing and implementing control systems.
  11. Work closely with other engineers and team members to develop and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
  12. Stay organized and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines are met and deliverables are completed to the highest quality standards.
  13. Communicate effectively with team members, management, and other stakeholders to provide updates, seek feedback, and address any concerns related to control system development.
  14. Represent General Motors' commitment to innovation and engineering excellence in all interactions with colleagues, partners, and customers.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Electrical Or Mechanical Engineering: A Strong Foundation In Engineering Principles Is Essential For A Controls Engineer At General Motors. A Degree In Either Electrical Or Mechanical Engineering Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Design And Troubleshoot Complex Control Systems.

  • Experience With Plc Programming: General Motors Relies Heavily On Programmable Logic Controllers (Plcs) For Controlling Various Manufacturing Processes. A Controls Engineer Should Have Experience With Plc Programming And Be Familiar With Common Programming Languages Such As Ladder Logic, Structured Text, And Function Block Diagram.

  • Knowledge Of Automotive Systems: As A Manufacturer Of Automobiles, General Motors Requires Its Controls Engineers To Have A Deep Understanding Of Automotive Systems. This Includes Familiarity With Engine Control, Powertrain Control, Vehicle Dynamics, And Other Critical Systems.

  • Familiarity With Industry Standards And Regulations: General Motors Operates Within A Highly Regulated Industry, And Its Controls Engineers Must Be Well-Versed In Relevant Standards And Regulations. This Includes Knowledge Of Safety Standards Such As Iso 26262 And Environmental Regulations Such As Epa Emissions Standards.

  • Problem-Solving And Analytical Skills: A Controls Engineer At General Motors Must Be Able To Think Critically And Solve Complex Problems On A Daily Basis. Strong Analytical Skills And The Ability To Troubleshoot And Diagnose Issues Quickly Are Essential For Success In This Role.
