Job Description

Lead Mechanical Engineer for wind turbine gearboxes responsible for component design & release. Participate in full lifecycle design of gearboxes, which includes NPI designs incorporating new technologies, supplier qualifications, cost out and fleet support. Support system and product teams with trade-offs of gearbox reliability vs turbine performance to deliver the lowest cost of energy product. Work cross-functionally with Sourcing, Manufacturing and Quality on supplier qualifications, NCRs, supplier deviation dispositioning, and Root Cause Analyses. Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Own and maintain gearbox component Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA). Partner with suppliers to create and maintain Process FMEA.

Job Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years design engineering experience

  • Minimum 2 years drive train / power transmission experience

  • Experience in design of rotating or moving components along with the supplier qualifications.

  • Strong critical thinking and customer solutions focus, proven record of creativity/ innovations

  • Quality (APQP) / Lean process focus and experience
