- Operate and maintain the heart-lung machine during cardiac surgeries.
- Ensure the proper functioning of equipment and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and adjust machine settings accordingly.
- Administer and regulate blood products and medications as directed by the surgeon.
- Anticipate and prepare for potential complications during surgery.

Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Or Related Field: A Strong Educational Background Is Essential For A Perfusionist At Franciscan Health. A Bachelor's Degree In Perfusion Or A Related Field Such As Cardiovascular Technology Or Biology Is Preferred.
Certified Clinical Perfusionist (Ccp) Certification: To Be Considered For The Position, Candidates Must Be Certified By The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp) As A Ccp. This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met The Rigorous Standards Of Education, Training, And Experience Required For This Role.
Experience With Various Cardiac Procedures: Franciscan Health Is Seeking Candidates With A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Perfusionist Role, Preferably In A Hospital Setting. Candidates Should Be Familiar With A Variety Of Cardiac Procedures Including Coronary Bypass, Valve Replacement, And Ecmo.
Strong Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills: Perfusionists Are Responsible For Monitoring And Adjusting The Patient's Blood Flow And Oxygen Levels During Cardiac Procedures. They Must Be Able To Think Quickly And Make Critical Decisions In High-Stress Situations.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Abilities: Perfusionists Work Closely With Other Members Of The Surgical Team, Including Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, And Nurses. Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Essential For A Successful Perfusionist At Franciscan Health.
