
Patient Transporter

- Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from various areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, diagnostic areas, and treatment rooms.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion while interacting with patients and their families.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of equipment and infection control measures.
- Monitor and report any changes in patient condition or needs during transport.
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare team members to ensure timely and accurate transport of patients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of transport equipment and work area.
- Assist in the transfer and movement of patients to and from beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
- Provide assistance to patients with mobility limitations, including pushing wheelchairs and providing support during transfers.
- Handle patient belongings and equipment with care to prevent damage or loss.
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Participate in training and education programs to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify and implement process improvements to enhance patient transport services.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including but not limited to HIPAA regulations and patient rights.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards patients, coworkers, and visitors at all times.
- Participate in departmental meetings and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Transporter At Franciscan Health Must Possess A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Ensure They Have The Basic Educational Background Necessary For The Job.
Previous Healthcare Experience: Candidates For This Role Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Whether It Be As A Volunteer, Intern, Or Paid Employee. This Will Demonstrate A Familiarity With The Industry And An Understanding Of Patient Care.
Strong Communication Skills: Patient Transporters Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes Being Able To Convey Information Clearly And Accurately, As Well As Actively Listen To Patients' Needs And Concerns.
Physical Ability: This Job Requires The Ability To Lift And Move Patients Of Various Sizes And Mobility Levels, As Well As Push Or Pull Heavy Equipment Such As Gurneys And Wheelchairs. Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Meet The Physical Demands Of The Job.
Compassionate And Empathetic Attitude: Patient Transporters Must Have A Compassionate And Empathetic Attitude Towards Patients Who May Be Experiencing Physical Or Emotional Distress. This Includes Being Able To Remain Calm And Professional In Stressful Situations And Showing Genuine Care And Concern For Patients And Their Well-Being.
