  1. Provide genetic counseling services to patients and families to assess their risk for inherited genetic conditions.
  2. Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical histories and family histories to identify potential genetic risks.
  3. Communicate complex genetic information to patients and families in a clear and sensitive manner.
  4. Assist patients and families in understanding the implications of genetic testing and help them make informed decisions.
  5. Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
  6. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families throughout the decision-making process.
  7. Keep accurate and detailed records of patient consultations and genetic testing results.
  8. Stay up-to-date on advancements in genetics and genetic testing methods to provide the most current and accurate information to patients.
  9. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  10. Participate in educational and outreach programs to increase awareness and understanding of genetic conditions.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the field of genetic counseling.
  12. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow all HIPAA regulations.
  13. Continuously demonstrate compassion, excellence, and respect in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
  14. Attend and participate in team meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
  15. Continuously strive to improve the quality and effectiveness of genetic counseling services provided at Franciscan Health.

Job Qualifications
  • A Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.

  • Certification From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc).

  • Experience In Genetic Counseling, Preferably In A Clinical Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Genetic Testing And Interpretation.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Counsel Patients And Families.
