- Provide genetic counseling services to patients and families to assess their risk for inherited genetic conditions.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' medical histories and family histories to identify potential genetic risks.
- Communicate complex genetic information to patients and families in a clear and sensitive manner.
- Assist patients and families in understanding the implications of genetic testing and help them make informed decisions.
- Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families throughout the decision-making process.
- Keep accurate and detailed records of patient consultations and genetic testing results.
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in genetics and genetic testing methods to provide the most current and accurate information to patients.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in educational and outreach programs to increase awareness and understanding of genetic conditions.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the field of genetic counseling.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow all HIPAA regulations.
- Continuously demonstrate compassion, excellence, and respect in all interactions with patients and colleagues.
- Attend and participate in team meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
- Continuously strive to improve the quality and effectiveness of genetic counseling services provided at Franciscan Health.
A Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.
Certification From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc).
Experience In Genetic Counseling, Preferably In A Clinical Setting.
Knowledge And Understanding Of Genetic Testing And Interpretation.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Counsel Patients And Families.
