- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in the emergency department setting.
- Assist with patient assessments, vital signs, and basic medical procedures such as wound care, splinting, and EKGs.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care interventions and observations.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort at all times.
- Prepare and maintain medical equipment and supplies for use in patient care.
- Assist in transferring patients to other departments or facilities when necessary.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and improve job knowledge and skills.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For An Ed Technician At Franciscan Health Is A High School Diploma Or Its Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Knowledge And Understanding Of Core Subjects Such As Math, Science, And English.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Certification: A Cna Certification Is Necessary To Work As An Ed Technician At Franciscan Health. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Training In Basic Nursing Skills And Patient Care.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: An Ed Technician Must Have A Current Bls Certification To Be Able To Provide Basic Life-Saving Techniques Such As Cpr In Emergency Situations. This Certification Is A Requirement To Work In The Emergency Department At Franciscan Health.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: While Not A Mandatory Requirement, Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Is Highly Desirable For An Ed Technician Job At Franciscan Health. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Familiarity With Working In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment.
