- Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures by setting up necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures and provide them with the necessary instruments and supplies.
- Maintain a high level of sterile technique throughout surgical procedures to prevent infections and promote patient safety.
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of care.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and assist with positioning and prepping of patients for surgery.
- Handle and dispose of surgical specimens in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date surgical counts of all instruments, sponges, and needles.
- Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room.
- Keep abreast of advancements in surgical technology and techniques to continuously improve and enhance patient care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings as required.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Contribute to the maintenance and cleanliness of the operating room and equipment.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care.
