  1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on campus buildings and facilities, including but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  2. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with building systems and equipment, and make necessary repairs and adjustments.
  3. Follow safety protocols and regulations while completing tasks to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  4. Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
  5. Collaborate with other members of the facilities team to prioritize and complete maintenance and repair tasks in a timely manner.
  6. Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other university staff to ensure efficient and effective completion of tasks.
  7. Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to complete tasks, and maintain these tools in good working condition.
  8. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in various trades to continuously improve skills and techniques.
  9. Identify and report potential safety hazards or maintenance issues to appropriate personnel.
  10. Maintain a clean and organized work area, and adhere to all safety and cleanliness protocols.
  11. Assist with special projects and events as needed.
  12. Uphold the values and standards of Florida State University while representing the facilities team in a professional manner.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: Candidates For This Position Must Possess A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Be Considered For The Role.

  • Relevant Trade Certification: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Certification In A Relevant Trade Such As Electrical, Plumbing, Or Carpentry.

  • Previous Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In General Trades Or A Related Field Is Required For This Position.

  • Strong Technical Skills: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of General Trades And Possess The Necessary Technical Skills To Perform Tasks Such As Repairs, Installations, And Maintenance.

  • Ability To Work Independently: The General Trades Technician Will Be Responsible For Completing Tasks Independently, So The Ability To Work Autonomously And Make Decisions Is Essential.
