Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and organized Merchandise Manager to join our team and help us continue our mission of delivering exceptional value to our customers. As a Merchandise Manager, you will play a crucial role in planning, sourcing, and managing our merchandise assortment. We are looking for someone who is passionate about retail and has a keen eye for trends and customer preferences. If you have a strong understanding of inventory management, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of driving sales and profitability, we would love to hear from you.

  1. Develop and implement merchandise strategies to drive sales and profitability in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  2. Research and analyze market trends, customer preferences, and competitors to inform merchandise selection and assortment.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including buyers and planners, to plan and source merchandise that meets customer needs and aligns with company vision.
  4. Maintain a deep understanding of product categories and make strategic decisions regarding pricing, promotions, and markdowns.
  5. Establish and maintain vendor relationships to negotiate favorable terms and secure optimal pricing for merchandise.
  6. Monitor inventory levels and make recommendations for reorders or cancellations to ensure optimal stock levels and minimize excess inventory.
  7. Develop and maintain merchandise budgets, tracking performance against goals and making adjustments as needed.
  8. Create and distribute merchandise reports and communicate key findings and insights to relevant stakeholders.
  9. Train and develop team members on merchandise processes, procedures, and best practices.
  10. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to merchandising, pricing, and inventory management.
  11. Continuously evaluate and improve merchandise processes and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  12. Collaborate with visual merchandising team to ensure merchandise is presented in an attractive and organized manner on the sales floor.
  13. Monitor and analyze sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  14. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new product releases to inform merchandise selection and assortment.
  15. Maintain a high level of customer service by promptly addressing any merchandise-related inquiries or issues.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Retail Management Experience: A Merchandise Manager At Five Below Should Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In Retail Management, Preferably In A Fast-Paced, High-Volume Environment. This Experience Should Include Managing Inventory, Analyzing Sales Data, And Implementing Merchandising Strategies.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Merchandise Manager, You Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Associates And Collaborating With Cross-Functional Teams. Strong Communication And Leadership Skills Are Essential To Effectively Delegate Tasks, Provide Feedback, And Motivate Team Members To Meet Sales Goals.

  • Knowledge Of Retail Trends And Merchandising Strategies: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Current Retail Trends And Best Practices In Merchandising. This Includes Knowledge Of Product Placement, Visual Merchandising Techniques, And Inventory Management Strategies To Maximize Sales And Profitability.

  • Analytical And Data-Driven Mindset: Merchandise Managers At Five Below Must Be Comfortable Working With Data And Using It To Make Informed Decisions. This Includes Analyzing Sales Reports, Identifying Trends, And Making Data-Driven Recommendations To Improve The Overall Merchandise Strategy.

  • Bachelor's Degree In Business, Marketing, Or Related Field: While Not Always Required, A Bachelor's Degree In A Business-Related Field Can Give Candidates A Competitive Edge For The Merchandise Manager Role. This Degree Should Provide A Strong Foundation In Retail Management, Marketing, And Business Strategy.
