Job Qualifications

  • Proficiency In Cobol Programming Language: The First And Foremost Qualification For A Software Development Engineer - Cobol Job At First Data Is A Strong Understanding And Experience With Cobol Programming Language. This Includes Knowledge Of Programming Concepts Such As Data Structures, Algorithms, And Debugging Techniques.

  • Familiarity With Mainframe Systems: Since Cobol Is Primarily Used For Mainframe Systems, A Strong Understanding And Experience With Mainframe Systems Is A Must For This Role. This Includes Knowledge Of Mainframe Operating Systems, Databases, And Tools Such As Z/Os, Db2, And Cics.

  • Experience With Software Development Lifecycle: A Software Development Engineer - Cobol At First Data Should Have A Solid Understanding Of The Software Development Lifecycle, Including Requirements Gathering, Design, Coding, Testing, And Deployment. They Should Also Have Experience Working In An Agile Development Environment.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: As A Software Development Engineer - Cobol, One Will Be Responsible For Developing And Maintaining Complex Systems. Therefore, Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills Are Essential For This Role. This Includes The Ability To Troubleshoot And Resolve Technical Issues In A Timely Manner.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Abilities: Software Development Is A Collaborative Process, And A Software Development Engineer - Cobol Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Team Members And Stakeholders. This Includes The Ability To Articulate Technical Concepts To Non-Technical Stakeholders And Work Well In A Team Environment.
