  1. Provide strategic legal counsel to the consumer lending division of Fifth Third Bank.
  2. Stay updated on all relevant laws and regulations related to consumer lending and ensure compliance.
  3. Lead and participate in the development of consumer lending strategies and initiatives.
  4. Advise and guide business teams on legal and regulatory implications of proposed lending products and services.
  5. Conduct legal research and analysis to support decision-making.
  6. Review and negotiate contracts and agreements related to consumer lending.
  7. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including risk management and compliance teams, to ensure alignment and consistency in legal advice and guidance.
  8. Provide training and education to business teams on consumer lending laws and regulations.
  9. Monitor and assess changes in consumer lending laws and regulations and adapt business practices accordingly.
  10. Represent the bank in legal proceedings related to consumer lending.
  11. Maintain strong relationships with regulators and industry associations to stay informed on industry developments.
  12. Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to consumer lending.
  13. Identify potential legal risks and provide proactive solutions to mitigate them.
  14. Serve as a mentor and resource for junior legal team members.
  15. Uphold the bank's values of integrity and excellence in all legal matters.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum Of 10 Years Experience In Consumer Lending: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience Working In The Consumer Lending Industry, Preferably With A Focus On Mortgages, Home Equity Loans, And Other Types Of Consumer Loans.

  • Advanced Knowledge Of Consumer Lending Regulations: Fifth Third Bank Operates Within A Highly Regulated Industry, And As Such, The Senior Counsel Must Have A Deep Understanding Of All Relevant Federal And State Laws And Regulations Pertaining To Consumer Lending.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: The Senior Counsel Will Play A Critical Role In Identifying And Mitigating Legal Risks Associated With Consumer Lending Activities. Therefore, The Candidate Should Possess Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills To Effectively Evaluate And Address Complex Legal Issues.

  • Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills: As A Senior Member Of The Legal Team, The Senior Counsel Will Be Responsible For Communicating With Internal And External Stakeholders, Including Regulators, Customers, And Other Attorneys. Therefore, Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills Are A Must.

  • Juris Doctor Degree From An Accredited Law School: To Be Considered For This Position, Candidates Must Have A Juris Doctor (Jd) Degree From An Accredited Law School And Be Licensed To Practice Law In The State Where Fifth Third Bank Operates. Additional Certifications In Consumer Finance Law Or Related Fields Are A Plus.
