- Conduct thorough risk assessments of potential and existing merchants to determine their level of risk and potential impact on the company's financial standing.
- Analyze financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant data to make informed decisions on merchant approvals and risk levels.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential losses and protect the company's assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and compliance, to ensure a comprehensive approach to risk management.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and regulations to proactively identify potential risks and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Review and improve existing underwriting processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Communicate risk assessment findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external clients in a clear and concise manner.
- Monitor merchant activity and identify any suspicious or fraudulent behavior to prevent financial losses.
- Provide training and guidance to junior underwriters to develop their skills and knowledge in risk analysis.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all underwriting decisions and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with legal teams to review and negotiate contracts and agreements with merchants.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners to understand their risk profiles and address any concerns.
- Adhere to all compliance and regulatory requirements in the underwriting process.
- Continuously evaluate and improve risk assessment and underwriting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Represent the company in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Extensive Experience In Underwriting And Risk Assessment: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 5-7 Years Of Experience In Merchant Underwriting And Risk Analysis, Preferably In The Financial Services Industry.
Strong Knowledge Of Merchant Services And Payments Industry: A Deep Understanding Of The Merchant Services Landscape And The Various Types Of Payment Methods And Products Is Crucial For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Be Well-Versed In Industry Regulations And Compliance Standards.
Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Senior Merchant Underwriting Risk Analyst, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Assessing And Mitigating Potential Risks Associated With Merchant Accounts. Therefore, Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills Are Essential For This Role.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Communicate Complex Risk Assessments To Stakeholders And Merchants. They Should Also Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills To Build And Maintain Relationships With Key Stakeholders.
Degree In Finance, Accounting, Or Related Field: A Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Finance, Accounting, Or Business Administration Is Preferred. Additional Certifications In Risk Management Or Underwriting Will Also Be Considered An Advantage.
