- Prepare and serve nutritious and appealing meals to patients in accordance with their dietary needs and restrictions.
- Collaborate with the dietary team to plan menus and ensure meals meet all dietary requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area, following all sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Monitor inventory and stock levels of food and supplies, and inform management of any shortages or issues.
- Assist with meal planning and special diets, including pureed, mechanical soft, and allergy-specific meals.
- Follow all food safety regulations and ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of food items.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to gather information about dietary preferences and needs.
- Coordinate with nurses and dietitians to ensure patients are receiving appropriate meals and snacks based on their individual care plans.
- Assist with meal service and provide excellent customer service to patients, ensuring their satisfaction with their meals.
- Attend and participate in training and education programs to stay updated on nutrition, food safety, and healthcare regulations.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with patients, families, and team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the dietary manager or supervisor.
Experience In Food Service And Preparation: A Successful Candidate Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Commercial Kitchen Or Food Service Setting. This Includes Knowledge Of Basic Food Safety And Sanitation Practices, As Well As Experience In Preparing And Cooking Meals For Large Groups.
Knowledge Of Special Diets And Dietary Restrictions: The Diet Aide/Cook Will Be Responsible For Preparing Meals For Patients With Specialized Dietary Needs. Therefore, Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Different Diets, Such As Diabetic, Low Sodium, And Gluten-Free, And Be Able To Accommodate These Restrictions In Meal Preparation.
Ability To Follow Recipes And Menus: The Diet Aide/Cook Will Be Responsible For Preparing Meals According To Specific Recipes And Menus. This Requires Attention To Detail And The Ability To Follow Instructions Accurately.
Physical Stamina And Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: This Position Requires Standing For Extended Periods Of Time, Frequent Lifting And Carrying Of Heavy Objects, And Working In A Fast-Paced Environment. Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Handle The Demands Of The Job.
