
Unit Secretary

As a Unit Secretary, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our unit. - Greet patients and their families with a warm and welcoming attitude.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members.
- Schedule appointments and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Ensure patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times.
- Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers as needed.
- Monitor and order office supplies, ensuring that necessary materials are always available.
- Manage and organize patient charts, including filing, updating, and retrieving records as needed.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, typing, and photocopying.
- Communicate effectively with nursing and other healthcare staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the unit.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that all equipment is in proper working order.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety and infection control measures.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Provide support to nurses and other healthcare staff as needed.
- Continuously strive to improve processes and procedures to enhance the quality of care for patients and their families.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Unit Secretary Position At Encompass Health Would Be A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Knowledge And Skills In Reading, Writing, And Math.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Encompass Health Is A Healthcare Company, And Therefore, Having Previous Experience In A Similar Setting Would Be Highly Preferred. This Includes Experience As A Unit Secretary Or In A Healthcare Administration Role.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: As A Unit Secretary, The Candidate Will Be Required To Interact With Medical Staff And Patients On A Daily Basis. Having Knowledge Of Medical Terminology Is Essential To Effectively Communicate And Understand Medical Documents And Procedures.
Excellent Organizational And Communication Skills: Encompass Health Is A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment, And A Unit Secretary Must Be Able To Multitask And Communicate Effectively With Various Stakeholders. Strong Organizational Skills And The Ability To Prioritize Tasks Are Crucial For Success In This Role.
Proficiency In Computer Systems And Software: In Today's Digital Age, Most Healthcare Facilities Utilize Electronic Medical Records And Other Computer Systems For Administrative Tasks. A Unit Secretary Must Have Proficiency In Common Computer Software Programs And Be Comfortable With Learning And Adapting To New Systems.
