- Assist licensed therapists in providing rehabilitation services to patients.
- Prepare treatment areas and equipment for therapy sessions.
- Greet and welcome patients and their families, making them feel comfortable and cared for.
- Escort patients to and from therapy sessions.
- Help patients with exercises and activities under the direction of therapists.
- Monitor and document patient progress and report back to therapists.
- Maintain a clean and organized therapy area.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and maintaining patient records.
- Communicate effectively with therapists, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during their therapy sessions.
- Respect patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
- Attend training and educational sessions to improve skills and stay updated on industry standards.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude towards patients and coworkers.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and report any potential hazards.
- Continuously strive to improve patient care and contribute to the overall success of the therapy department.
Relevant Education: A Therapy Technician At Encompass Health Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. A Degree Or Certification In A Related Field Such As Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Or Exercise Science Is Preferred.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Healthcare Environment, Preferably In A Rehabilitation Or Therapy Setting. This Experience Will Ensure An Understanding Of The Role And Responsibilities Of A Therapy Technician.
Knowledge Of Therapy Techniques: A Therapy Technician At Encompass Health Should Have A Basic Understanding Of Therapy Techniques Used For Patients, Such As Stretching, Range Of Motion Exercises, And Therapeutic Activities. Knowledge Of Safety Procedures And Proper Body Mechanics Is Also Required.
Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For A Therapy Technician, As They Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Therapists, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Should Have The Ability To Interact With Patients In A Compassionate And Professional Manner.
Physical Ability: The Role Of A Therapy Technician Can Be Physically Demanding, As It Involves Assisting Patients With Exercises And Activities. Candidates Should Have The Physical Strength And Stamina To Perform These Tasks And Should Also Be Able To Lift And Move Patients When Necessary.
