- Perform respiratory assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with respiratory illnesses and disorders.
- Administer respiratory treatments and therapies, including administering medications, oxygen therapy, and mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor and adjust mechanical ventilation settings as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory care, including proper use of medications and equipment.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide comprehensive care for patients.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate respiratory support as needed.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Stay current with new developments and advancements in respiratory therapy.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols.
- Maintain professional and ethical standards in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced respiratory therapists.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in developing and implementing new respiratory care protocols.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain a compassionate and patient-centered approach in all interactions with patients.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Display a commitment to the organization's mission and values.
Valid Respiratory Therapist License: An Active And Unrestricted License To Practice As A Respiratory Therapist In The State Where The Encompass Health Facility Is Located Is Required.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting: Encompass Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working As A Respiratory Therapist In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In An Inpatient Rehabilitation Or Long-Term Acute Care Facility.
Bls And Acls Certification: Candidates Must Have Current Certifications In Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) From The American Heart Association.
Knowledge Of Respiratory Therapy Equipment And Procedures: Applicants Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Respiratory Therapy Equipment And Procedures, Such As Oxygen Therapy, Mechanical Ventilation, And Arterial Blood Gas Analysis.
Availability To Work Prn Shifts: Encompass Health Is Seeking Candidates Who Are Able To Work On An As-Needed Basis, Including Weekends And Holidays, To Provide Coverage For Full-Time Staff And Meet The Needs Of The Facility's Patients. Flexibility In Scheduling Is Essential For This Role.
