- Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' nutritional status.
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans based on patients' medical conditions, dietary needs, and personal preferences.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on proper nutrition and dietary guidelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
- Monitor and document patients' progress and make adjustments to nutrition plans as needed.
- Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in nutrition and incorporate them into patient care.
- Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff in preparing and serving appropriate meals for patients.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and nutrition assessments.
- Participate in patient rounds, team meetings, and other interdisciplinary activities to ensure continuity of care.
- Adhere to all regulatory and accrediting agency standards related to nutrition and patient care.
- Continuously evaluate and improve nutrition programs and services.
- Serve as a resource for staff, patients, and families for any nutrition-related questions or concerns.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with community resources and organizations to enhance patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and training opportunities to maintain and enhance professional skills and knowledge.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards set forth by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and other relevant organizations.
Bachelor's Degree In Dietetics Or Related Field: A Registered Dietitian At Encompass Health Must Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Dietetics, Nutrition, Or A Related Field. This Ensures That They Have A Strong Foundation In The Science Of Nutrition And Are Equipped With The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Evidence-Based Nutrition Care.
Registered Dietitian (Rd) Credential: All Applicants For The Registered Dietitian Position At Encompass Health Must Hold A Current Rd Credential From The Commission On Dietetic Registration (Cdr). This Credential Is A Nationally Recognized Measure Of Competence And Is Required To Practice As A Dietitian In Most States.
State Licensure: In Addition To The Rd Credential, A Registered Dietitian At Encompass Health Must Be Licensed To Practice In The State Where They Will Be Working. State Licensure Requirements Vary, But Typically Involve Passing A State-Specific Exam And Fulfilling Continuing Education Requirements To Maintain The License.
Experience In Clinical Nutrition: Encompass Health Is A Healthcare Organization That Specializes In Rehabilitation And Post-Acute Care. Therefore, Experience In Clinical Nutrition Is A Key Qualification For The Registered Dietitian Position. Candidates With Experience In Acute Care, Long-Term Care, Or Other Clinical Settings Will Be Preferred.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Registered Dietitian At Encompass Health, The Candidate Will Work Closely With Patients, Their Families, And A Multidisciplinary Healthcare Team.
