  1. Create and maintain nursing staff schedules to ensure proper coverage for all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  2. Monitor and track nursing staff attendance and time off requests, making adjustments to schedules as needed.
  3. Collaborate with unit managers and nursing supervisors to identify staffing needs and address any staffing shortages or issues.
  4. Work closely with the HR department to recruit and onboard new nursing staff members.
  5. Utilize scheduling software and other tools to efficiently manage and organize staff schedules.
  6. Communicate with nursing staff regarding any changes to their schedules and ensure proper coverage is maintained.
  7. Conduct regular audits and reviews of staffing schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  8. Maintain a strong understanding of facility staffing needs and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
  9. Keep accurate records of staffing schedules, attendance, and time off requests.
  10. Develop and implement strategies to improve staffing efficiency and reduce costs.
  11. Act as a liaison between nursing staff and management to address any scheduling concerns or issues.
  12. Monitor and track staffing budget and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.
  13. Train and educate new staff on company policies and procedures related to scheduling and staffing.
  14. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to nursing staff scheduling and staffing.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Nursing Staffing Coordinator At Encompass Health Should Possess A Strong Educational Background In Nursing Or A Related Field To Effectively Understand And Manage The Staffing Needs Of The Organization.

  • Previous Nursing Experience: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience As A Registered Nurse Is Typically Required For A Nursing Staffing Coordinator Role. This Experience Allows For A Deep Understanding Of The Nursing Profession And The Ability To Assess Staffing Needs And Make Appropriate Decisions.

  • Knowledge Of Staffing And Scheduling Software: Encompass Health Uses Various Software Programs To Manage And Schedule Its Nursing Staff. A Qualified Candidate Should Be Familiar With These Programs And Have Experience Using Them To Efficiently Schedule And Track The Nursing Staff.

  • Strong Communication And Organizational Skills: As A Nursing Staffing Coordinator, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Communicating With Multiple Departments And Individuals To Ensure Proper Staffing Levels. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Organizational Skills Are Crucial For Success In This Role.

  • Ability To Work Under Pressure And Handle Conflict: The Healthcare Industry Can Be Fast-Paced And Highly Stressful, And A Nursing Staffing Coordinator Must Be Able To Handle Pressure And Conflict Effectively. This Includes Making Quick And Accurate Decisions During Staffing Emergencies And Resolving Conflicts Within The Nursing Staff.
