- Collaborate with registered dietitians to develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans for patients.
- Conduct patient assessments to determine nutritional needs and make appropriate recommendations.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress and make necessary adjustments to nutrition care plans.
- Provide patient education on nutrition and dietary guidelines for optimal health.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient records and progress.
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Stay current on industry trends and research in dietetics and nutrition to continuously improve patient care.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines in food preparation and storage.
- Maintain inventory of food and supplies and assist with ordering as needed.
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion for patients and their families during their healthcare journey.

Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or A Related Field: A Diet Technician, Registered (Dtr) At Encompass Health Must Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition, Dietetics, Or A Related Field. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In Nutrition Science And Is Well-Equipped To Provide Evidence-Based Nutritional Care To Patients.
Registered Diet Technician (Dtr) Certification: Encompass Health Requires All Diet Technicians To Be Registered With The Commission On Dietetic Registration (Cdr) As A Dtr. This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Passed A National Examination And Is Qualified To Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy To Patients.
Knowledge Of Medical Nutrition Therapy: A Dtr At Encompass Health Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Medical Nutrition Therapy And Its Application In Different Disease States. This Includes Knowledge Of Various Diet Modifications, Enteral And Parenteral Nutrition, And Specialized Diets For Patients With Specific Medical Conditions.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Encompass Health Prefers Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital, Clinic, Or Long-Term Care Facility. This Experience Provides The Candidate With A Better Understanding Of The Role And Responsibilities Of A Dtr In A Clinical Setting.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Diet Technician At Encompass Health, The Candidate Will Work Closely With Patients, Their Families, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential To Effectively Educate And Counsel Patients On Their Nutritional Needs, As Well As Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals.
