- Develop and implement individualized nutrition plans for patients based on their medical conditions, dietary needs, and preferences.
- Monitor and assess patients' nutritional status, including weight, body mass index, and nutrient intake.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients, including physicians, nurses, therapists, and social workers.
- Educate patients and their families on proper nutrition and dietary guidelines to promote health and well-being.
- Conduct assessments and provide recommendations for patients with specialized nutrition needs, such as enteral or parenteral nutrition.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient nutrition assessments, plans, and progress.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with prescribed diets and provide support to patients in adhering to dietary recommendations.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to patient care planning and progress evaluations.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
- Adhere to all regulatory and safety standards related to providing nutrition services to patients.
- Collaborate with food service staff to ensure patient meals meet dietary requirements and are served in a timely manner.
- Provide excellent customer service and address any patient or family concerns regarding nutrition services.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to provide optimal nutrition care.
- Attend and participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of nutrition and dietetics.
- Contribute to the overall success of the Encompass Health team by taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
Degree In Nutrition Or Dietetics: A Diet Technician, Registered (Dtr) At Encompass Health Should Have A Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition, Dietetics, Or A Related Field From An Accredited University.
Certification As A Diet Technician, Registered: Encompass Health Requires All Diet Technicians To Hold A Current Certification As A Diet Technician, Registered (Dtr) From The Commission On Dietetic Registration (Cdr).
Knowledge Of Medical Nutrition Therapy: As A Diet Technician At Encompass Health, A Strong Understanding Of Medical Nutrition Therapy (Mnt) Is Essential. This Includes Knowledge Of Disease-Specific Diets, Food And Drug Interactions, And The Ability To Calculate And Modify Diets According To Individual Patient Needs.
Experience In A Clinical Setting: Encompass Health Requires A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Rehabilitation Center, For Their Diet Technicians. This Experience Should Include Working With A Multidisciplinary Team To Provide Nutrition Care To Patients.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Diet Technician At Encompass Health Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Educate Patients And Their Families On Proper Nutrition And Dietary Needs, As Well As Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals To Develop And Implement Individualized Nutrition Plans For Patients.
