We are seeking a highly qualified and dynamic individual to join our team as the Managing Senior Director of Foundation Relations at Emory University's Central Advancement department.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the foundation relations program in alignment with the overall advancement strategy of Emory University.
  2. Identify and cultivate relationships with potential foundation partners, including conducting research, prospecting, and outreach efforts.
  3. Collaborate with university leadership, faculty, and staff to identify and prioritize funding needs and opportunities that align with the university's mission and priorities.
  4. Serve as the primary point of contact for foundation representatives, maintaining and strengthening existing relationships and creating new ones.
  5. Oversee the development and submission of high-quality proposals, reports, and other materials for foundation funders.
  6. Collaborate with the prospect research team to identify new and emerging foundation funding opportunities.
  7. Lead and manage a team of foundation relations professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure their success.
  8. Monitor and track foundation funding trends and best practices, adjusting strategies as needed to stay competitive in the philanthropic landscape.
  9. Collaborate with other departments within the university, including finance, legal, and program staff, to ensure compliance and effective stewardship of foundation funds.
  10. Represent Emory University at foundation conferences, events, and other networking opportunities to build awareness and support for the university's foundation relations program.
  11. Develop and manage the foundation relations budget, ensuring responsible and effective use of resources.
  12. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of foundation interactions, funding requests, and other relevant data in the university's donor database.
  13. Provide regular reports and updates to university leadership and other stakeholders on the progress and impact of the foundation relations program.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve the foundation relations program, identifying areas for growth and implementing best practices to increase success and efficiency.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Fundraising: The Managing Senior Director Of Foundation Relations Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successful Fundraising, Particularly In Securing Grants From Foundations. This Experience Should Include Developing Relationships With Foundations, Writing Compelling Grant Proposals, And Managing The Entire Grant Process.

  • Strong Leadership And Management Skills: As A Senior Leader, The Managing Senior Director Should Possess Excellent Leadership And Management Skills To Effectively Lead And Mentor A Team Of Foundation Relations Professionals. This Includes Setting Strategic Direction, Goal Setting, And Performance Management.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Foundation Landscape: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Foundation Landscape, Including Trends, Best Practices, And Key Players. This Knowledge Will Enable Them To Identify Potential Funding Sources And Develop Targeted Strategies To Secure Grants That Align With Emory University's Priorities.

  • Exceptional Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Managing Senior Director Should Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Build And Maintain Relationships With Various Stakeholders, Including Foundation Representatives, University Leadership, And Colleagues Across Different Departments.

  • Advanced Degree And Relevant Experience: Emory University Requires A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree For This Position, But A Master's Degree Or Higher In A Related Field Is Preferred. Additionally, The Candidate Should Have At Least 7-10 Years Of Relevant Experience In Foundation Relations Or A Related Field, Preferably In A Higher Education Setting.
