  1. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the graduate program in the Department of Sociology.
  2. Provide support and guidance to graduate students during their academic and professional endeavors.
  3. Serve as a liaison between the graduate students, faculty, and administration.
  4. Organize and manage various events and workshops for graduate students, such as orientations, workshops, and professional development seminars.
  5. Coordinate the admissions process for the graduate program, including reviewing applications and assisting with recruitment efforts.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and databases for graduate students.
  7. Monitor and track graduate student progress towards degree requirements.
  8. Advise graduate students on course selection and program requirements.
  9. Collaborate with other departments and programs to enhance the graduate student experience.
  10. Stay updated on current trends and issues in graduate education, particularly in the field of sociology.
  11. Assist with budget management for the graduate program.
  12. Handle any student-related issues or concerns, and provide appropriate support and resources.
  13. Participate in departmental meetings and committees related to graduate education.
  14. Contribute to the overall diversity and inclusivity goals of the university and the Department of Sociology.
  15. Act as an advocate for graduate students and promote a positive and supportive learning environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Sociology Or A Related Field: The Graduate Program Coordinator Should Have A Solid Foundation In The Field Of Sociology, Which Can Be Demonstrated Through A Master's Degree. This Will Ensure That The Coordinator Has A Thorough Understanding Of The Discipline And Can Effectively Support Graduate Students.

  • Experience In Program Coordination: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Previous Experience In Coordinating Graduate Programs, Preferably In A University Setting. This Will Demonstrate Their Ability To Manage Administrative Tasks, Organize Events, And Effectively Communicate With Students And Faculty.

  • Strong Organizational Skills: The Graduate Program Coordinator Will Be Responsible For Managing A Complex Program With Multiple Moving Parts. Therefore, They Should Possess Excellent Organizational Skills To Ensure That All Aspects Of The Program Run Smoothly And Efficiently.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: The Coordinator Will Be The Main Point Of Contact For Graduate Students, Faculty, And Other Stakeholders. Therefore, They Should Possess Strong Written And Verbal Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Information And Respond To Inquiries In A Timely Manner.

  • Knowledge Of Graduate Program Policies And Procedures: The Graduate Program Coordinator Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Policies And Procedures Related To Graduate Programs At Emory University. This Will Allow Them To Effectively Navigate And Troubleshoot Any Issues That May Arise During The Course Of Their Work.
