- Develop and implement comprehensive environmental health and safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and promote a safe and healthy work environment for the diverse community of Emory University.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the EHSO and Occupational Health Office, including budget, staffing, and training.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for all matters related to environmental health and occupational safety, providing guidance and support to faculty, staff, and students.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Stay current with industry standards and best practices in environmental health and safety and make recommendations for improvements to the university's programs.
- Develop and deliver training programs on a variety of safety topics to ensure that all employees are aware of and adhere to safety protocols.
- Investigate and report on all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and make recommendations for preventative measures.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of safety equipment and ensure that all necessary safety supplies are stocked and available.
- Foster a culture of safety and wellness within the university community by promoting awareness and encouraging employee participation in safety programs.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure that all necessary permits and licenses are obtained and maintained.
- Respond to emergencies and provide support and guidance during crisis situations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and vendors to support the university's environmental health and safety efforts.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to environmental health and safety programs and initiatives.
- Conduct regular evaluations and assessments to measure the effectiveness of the university's environmental health and safety programs and make recommendations for improvements.
Bachelor's Degree In Environmental Health And Safety, Occupational Health, Or A Related Field.
At Least 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role Within An Ehso Or Occupational Health Department.
Knowledge And Understanding Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations Related To Environmental Health And Safety, Occupational Health, And Hazardous Materials.
Experience Developing, Implementing, And Managing Safety Programs And Policies In A Higher Education Or Research Setting.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Diverse Groups Of Stakeholders And Lead A Team.
