
Surgical First Assistant

- Assist surgeons during all stages of surgical procedures, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.
- Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, including setting up and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons during procedures and provide necessary instruments and supplies.
- Handle tissue specimens and assist with wound closure.
- Monitor patient vitals and assist with positioning and draping.
- Administer medications and assist with anesthesia under the direction of the surgeon.
- Collaborate with other members of the surgical team, including nurses and anesthesiologists, to ensure smooth and efficient surgical procedures.
- Document all procedures accurately and maintain patient records.
- Maintain knowledge of current surgical techniques and procedures and implement best practices.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide patient and family education on post-operative care and instructions.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor at all times.
- Attend trainings and educational opportunities to stay up-to-date on advancements in surgical procedures.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the surgeon or surgical team.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Surgical First Assistant, Preferably In A Hospital Setting.
Completion Of A Nationally Accredited Surgical First Assistant Program Or Equivalent Training.
Current Certification As A Certified Surgical First Assistant (Csfa) Or Certified Surgical Assistant (Csa).
Strong Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures, Instruments, And Equipment, With The Ability To Anticipate The Surgeon's Needs.
Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Work Well In A Fast-Paced, High-Stress Environment.
