  1. Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients, utilizing knowledge and skills in sports medicine and exercise science.
  2. Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans for surgical patients.
  3. Assess and evaluate patients' conditions and progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
  4. Educate patients on post-surgical rehabilitation exercises and techniques to promote optimal recovery.
  5. Administer therapeutic modalities, such as heat, ice, and electrical stimulation, as prescribed by physicians.
  6. Monitor patients' vital signs and responses to treatment, documenting and reporting any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  7. Assist with wound care and dressing changes for surgical incisions.
  8. Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during their recovery process.
  9. Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and evaluations.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current advancements and best practices in surgical athletic training and incorporate them into patient care.
  11. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols in the surgical setting.
  12. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement strategies for injury prevention and performance enhancement for athletes and active individuals.
  13. Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  14. Maintain a professional and compassionate attitude towards patients and their families at all times.
  15. Serve as a positive and enthusiastic ambassador for Emory Healthcare and the Surgical Athletic Trainer position.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Athletic Training From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certified Athletic Trainer (Atc) By The National Athletic Trainers' Association (Nata).

  • State Licensure In Athletic Training Or Eligibility To Obtain Licensure In The State Of Georgia.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As An Athletic Trainer, Preferably In A Surgical Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Orthopedic And Musculoskeletal Injuries, As Well As Their Surgical Interventions And Rehabilitation Protocols.
