- Provide exceptional patient care to mothers and newborns in the Labor and Delivery department.
- Assist with the delivery of babies and provide postpartum care to both mother and baby.
- Monitor and assess the health of mothers and babies, including vital signs, medication administration, and potential complications.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
- Educate patients and their families on postpartum care and newborn care, including breastfeeding, safe sleep practices, and infant care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that the physical, emotional, and cultural needs of patients are met.
- Effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide updates on patient progress and address any concerns.
- Continuously develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge through ongoing education and training opportunities.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution: A Registered Nurse In Labor And Delivery At Emory Healthcare Must Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, Which Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Principles And Practices.
Valid State Licensure As A Registered Nurse: Candidates Must Have A Current And Valid License To Practice As A Registered Nurse In The State Of Georgia. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Met All The Necessary Requirements And Is Qualified To Provide Care In A Clinical Setting.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Labor And Delivery Experience: Emory Healthcare Requires A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Labor And Delivery For This Position. This Ensures That The Nurse Has A Strong Understanding Of The Unique Challenges And Needs Of This Patient Population.
Certification In Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (Rnc-Ob): Emory Healthcare Values Specialized Knowledge And Skills, And Therefore Seeks Candidates Who Are Certified In Inpatient Obstetric Nursing. This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Expertise In Providing Care To Women During Labor And Delivery.
Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Registered Nurse In Labor And Delivery, Effective Communication And Critical Thinking Skills Are Essential. Candidates Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Team Members, And Also Possess The Ability To Make Quick And Accurate Decisions In High-Stress Situations.
