
Radiation Therapist
Responsible for the simulation of patients on both traditional and CT simulators. May be involved in special procedures and Dosimetry functions as needed. Uses and checks radiation equipment according to established procedure in operating manuals. Assures that equipment is functioning properly prior to and during patient use, as demonstrated by notifying personnel of any malfunctions in the equipment. Identifies equipment malfunctions, discontinues procedures and reports it to the Chief therapist and/or physicist according to department procedure. Demonstrates continuous competency on an annual basis on all applicable equipment in the department. Reviews Operating Manuals of all equipment on annual basis. Reviews prescriptions, records and notes on Patient on a daily basis. Schedules patients for treatment to optimize department efficiency and patient convenience. Performs treatment as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. Reports changes in patient's condition or inappropriate response to treatment to Radiation Oncologist or Nurse. Prepares simulation equipment and room for simulation of patient.
Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
No experience required.
New graduate of accredited program in radiation therapy.
