Job Description

Welcome to Emory Healthcare! We are currently seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Access Engagement Specialist for Referral Management. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating and coordinating referrals for patients, ensuring a seamless and positive experience for both patients and healthcare providers.   1. Coordinate and facilitate referrals for patients in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Ensure a positive and seamless experience for patients and healthcare providers.
  3. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and internal teams to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy of referrals.
  4. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  5. Maintain accurate and updated records of referral information.
  6. Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure smooth and timely referral processes.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry regulations and guidelines related to referral management.
  8. Identify and resolve any issues or barriers that may impact the referral process.
  9. Utilize electronic health record systems and other technology to manage referrals.
  10. Assist with training and educating new staff on referral management processes.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the referral process.
  12. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  13. Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing compassionate and empathetic patient care.
  14. Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting to changes and prioritizing tasks accordingly.
  15. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient and effective workflow.
  16. Prioritize and manage a high volume of referrals and tasks.

Job Qualifications
  • Strong Understanding Of Patient Access And Referral Management Processes: The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Knowledge Of Patient Access Procedures, Referral Management, And Insurance Verification Processes. This Will Ensure Efficient And Effective Coordination Of Patient Care And Timely Processing Of Referrals.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: A Patient Access Engagement Specialist Must Possess Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Engage With Patients, Providers, And Other Healthcare Professionals. This Includes Active Listening, Empathy, And The Ability To Communicate Complex Information In A Clear And Concise Manner.

  • Proficiency In Electronic Medical Record Systems: The Candidate Should Be Proficient In Using Electronic Medical Record Systems Such As Epic, Cerner, Or Other Similar Systems. This Will Enable Them To Accurately Document And Track Patient Referrals, Appointments, And Other Relevant Information.

  • Organizational And Multitasking Abilities: The Role Of A Patient Access Engagement Specialist Requires The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks Simultaneously. The Candidate Should Be Highly Organized, Detail-Oriented, And Able To Prioritize Tasks Effectively To Ensure Timely And Accurate Completion Of Work.

  • Understanding Of Healthcare Compliance And Regulations: The Candidate Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Healthcare Compliance And Regulations, Including Hipaa And Medicare Guidelines. This Is Crucial For Maintaining Patient Confidentiality And Ensuring Compliance With Regulatory Requirements.
